Hubby & I picked up his dinner suit on Wednesday, then on Friday, we picked up my dress, here is what happened to my relaxing Saturday as the race to finish our masks was on.
I sat at the dinning table at 10am on Saturday morning sticking little gems to my mask, I was aiming for a star burst pattern to match my dress, but as I looked at it, all I saw was a mess of gems stuck on a mask, not the effect I wanted.
So I called a good friend (couple number 2) I knew would be blunt and honest with me, and at 11am both her and her hubby said it looked great, so I didn't throw it against the wall like I had felt like doing earlier.
I was so stressed out I was ready to throw it all away and not go at all to the ball.
So there I was mask half done, and reassured by friends that the first half was good, and then the phone ran with a ‘put the kettle on’ request from my garden angel and his wife.
They had been to a local store and decided to pop in for a cuppa, which was wonderful, so I welcomed them with open arms even though I still wasn't dressed and it was 11:05am.
The hairdresser was due at 2pm and my bath was going to be run for 12:30pm so I could have a relaxing bath before she turned up.
So the first friends left and the tea & coffee was made, and we had a great chat and giggle about all sorts of things, it was great to see them again.
They stayed about and waited for hubby to get home from work at 12:30pm so they could see him and say hi before heading off home.
Then just as they was about to leave so some more friends turned up!!!!
I've never had such a busy Saturday in years, and all because my bath was calling me and the hairdresser was on her way..........Yikes it's 1pm by now, there goes my relaxing bath!!!!
I say hi and apologise to this third pair of friends, let them know what is going on and show them the half done mask and the outfits for the night, and wave them on their way.
I had been thinking the day before we need to go see this pair of friends as we hadn't seen them for a while.
I get my bath, I wash and shave, I get my hair washed and I get out (relaxation part now missing due to time), I get dressed and come downstairs to find another friend (half of couple number 1) here but this one is here to help finish the masks off as he is also going to the ball with us.
I continue to get the gems stuck on the other side of my mask and the hairdresser turns up.
My relaxing calm day has been all go so far!!!
I spend the next two hours having my hair cut and styled for the night, all the time with more things happening to my mask and hubby's mask getting completed.
They fit the elastic to one side and bring it in to see if my mask will fit with my hairstyle and measure up the elastic length................. Yippee it fits well.
The hairdresser leaves & I try to fit the mask with the elastic fitted............. AHHHHHHHHHHH the mask has cracked in two places!!!!!!!!!!! It's 4pm!!!!!!!!
Hubby strengthens it as I do some late lunch; we take of the elastic and go for ribbon to tie it on, as the elastic is what had broken it.
I finish the gem sticking at 5:30pm after eating dinner, and head upstairs to do my makeup and get ready.
From here on all goes well, OK my lipstick was a washed out version of what it was meant to be, but that was minor now compared to the earlier part of the day.
We pick up couple number 1 and head to couple number 2's house for photos and such, and then we head off to the ball.
A great time was had by all, & I even managed to dance to two songs (one fast, one slow) before my legs gave in and confined me to chair dancing...
Now I'm just sleeping to recover............
